Out Of The Ashes, We Rise!

Now that many of you know the story as to why I became a physical therapist, let me tell you a story about what drove me to start my own practice.

I had witnessed first hand how physical therapy can change the lives of so many people. It was amazing! Even more exciting was that I was finally able to be a part of this profession! I went through three years of grad school in order to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and I was so excited about how many lives I was going to impact. Look out world...here I come!!!

Through my experiences in physical therapy school, I fell in love with helping youth athletes. I was determined to position myself to be able to work in that field. This was going to be my way of continuing on with sports since my playing days were long behind me...the freshman fifteen was real, and I never hit that elusive growth spurt...

That was it! As a newly minted doctor of physical therapy, I was going to help youth athletes return to playing sports. Why is this so...

How A Stroke Shaped My Life

Let me tell you a story of what transpired in my life to drive me to become a physical therapist.

Honestly, I had no idea what I wanted to do when I grew up. In college, I changed my major as frequently as I changed clothes, and I hated wearing the same outfit twice in the same month! I never really found anything that resonated with me. I never felt satisfied that I would be able to make an impact with each choice that I made. Eventually I settled for business management and started working for an insurance agency. I was settling for what my career had become. I didn’t hate it, but I certainly didn’t love it. Then tragedy struck...

My only living grandparent at the time, my Mima, suffered a major stroke and was rushed to the hospital. I really had no idea what to expect at that time. Was she going to live? Was she going to be able to walk? Would she remember who I was? I was naive and I was scared. Thankfully she survived this stroke, but it...

The Mission Behind Agostino Athletics

One site that truly breaks my heart is seeing kids stuck on the bench or sideline because of an injury . Imagine getting hurt doing something that you love, and then having to miss significant time practicing and playing due to that same injury... Now imagine missing even more time because the injury was mismanaged, or you were told that simply resting for a couple of weeks would be enough, only to find that when you return, you are slower, weaker, and less explosive than before the injury.

Agostino Athletics was created to help these young athletes effectively manage their injuries so they can miss as little time as possible and so that they can be even stronger, faster, and more explosive upon returning. It was created so that young athletes and their parents can have a better understanding of an injury and know exactly what it will take to recover and return to dominating on the field. Clarity! Something that often seems to be missing following a sports injury.
